Audrey Brown has spent most of her life in Washington Township, and her strong belief in service has led her to be our next Township Clerk.
Audrey’s family moved to Washington Township in the early seventies (Carriage Hills), and she is a product of the Romeo Public Schools. After graduating from Romeo High School, she worked at Alward’s Market while attending Oakland University, where she earned two music degrees. Audrey lived and worked briefly as a performer in New York City after graduation. She returned to her hometown, where she and her new husband set up their first home. Audrey soon became the mother of identical triplet boys - Adam, Brandon, and Conrad (a one in 30 million probability). She soon added her daughter Olivia to the family.
While raising four young children, Audrey remained active in our community. Soon, she was singing at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, where she now serves as cantor. She helped organize neighborhood events, volunteered at local schools, and found time to campaign to elect rock-solid conservative Republicans to represent Washington Township.
Audrey returned to work as an Elementary Music Teacher in the Romeo schools as her kids grew older. She taught many children how to sing and read music while directing school musicals and encouraging local interest in the arts.
Audrey served as both the board secretary and vice president of the Carriage Hills Homeowners Association, responsibilities that put her in close contact with Township leaders to help her neighbors.
Audrey started her own small business as an independent insurance agent, winning numerous awards for being among the best of her peers. She learned how to run her own business and gained extensive experience dealing with business owners in our community. She understands the needs and challenges of our local job creators.
Her kids are now grown with successful careers in financial planning, law enforcement, insurance, and human resources. Daughter Olivia will soon be married, and Audrey has enjoyed planning that blessed event.
In addition to singing regularly at church, Audrey proudly sings patriotic songs at local events, including Washinton Township’s celebrations of Memorial Day, Veteran’s Day, Purple Heart Day, and the annual National Day of Prayer event. She has also sung for three presidents - George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, and Donald J. Trump! Audrey also performs in local community theater groups, sharing her vocal, dancing, and acting talents with regional audiences.
